About KommuniKate
Kommunikate is led by Kate Pickworth, a Melbourne-based packaging and brand identity designer with over 25 years experience. Kate started her design career working inhouse at Kraft Foods, which gave her a foundation in FMCG design requirements including packaging, point of sale and advertising that underpins her work today.
After having a family, she moved into Foodservice marketing/design for the Signature Brands Loyalty program for Incremental Marketing. She completely redesigned the way they presented their brochure to chefs and continued to create innovative catalogues and communications across several Foodservice companies for over 10 years, including liasing with suppliers and customers.
She then went back to working inhouse as a designer within companies including Go Natural and Lateral Foods (Grants Toothpaste). Working with the sales and marketing teams in both helped her continue to gain a strong understanding of what businesses need when it comes to designs that work hard and produce great results. She is also able to bridge the gap between what the sales team need and what the marketing team want to communicate.
Since setting up her own design studio she's partnered with a variety of Australian manufacturers and retailers including Red Tractor, Ritchies and Laminex. She has also worked with other food, manufacturing, tourism, theatre, lifestyle and consumer brands more broadly.
Her process is quick, collaborative and straightforward: open conversation, flexible engagements, no heavy processes, just design that moves quickly and holds up.

How we work
-
We start with a simple call to see if we're the right fit. It's a chance to talk through your design project, get a feel for your budget and timeline, and see if we're a good match before anything else happens.
-
Once we understand what you need, we'll agree on scope and provide a quote before any design work begins. From there, we explore a few creative directions and present them as clear visual concepts, so you can see exactly where things are heading.
-
From there, we work closely with you to refine the chosen direction. We include two to three rounds of revisions to make sure the design feels right, with clear, focused feedback keeping the process moving.
-
Once a direction is approved, we roll it out across everything you need, from print production to digital assets, keeping your brand consistent and clear wherever it shows up.
